we're celebrating midsummer in sweden today. it's as big as 4th of july is in the us. comparable in some ways with great food, friends and fun. swedish traditions of the holiday include snaps, sill (herring), potatoes and a cake with strawberries, lots of silly songs and dancing around a midsummer pole. oh and a flowery crown in the girls hair. im gunna try my best to do something festive with my hair. we'll see if i succeed. i am rather worthless when it comes to hair-do's. so out here in the country, we are praying for continued sunshine. swedes have spent far too many midsummer nights pouting over pouring rain.
