only a couple years ago, over-the-knee boots were only cut out for pop stars strutting their stuff on world-wide concert tours. that trend continues to dominate. think rhianna and janet jackson. 

however, now we are seeing them pop up in every day life. they are slightly more subtle with the option of flats instead of heels. and they will surely offer some warmth to your patella's (knee caps). hm well. i am dreading even trying them on because i have the longest calves known to man, which will make them not "over-the-knee" but probably more along the lines of "awkwardly-at-the-bottom-of-my-knee". we'll have to see if i dare try them on. my favorites are the farylrobin ones below. you can find them here at shopbop.com
