cupcakes & clothes.

some designers are inspired by indigenous tribes, and some are inspired by a role model from a specific era. and then there are those who are on the same wave length as me. they are inspired by food and sweets. no, i have not designed a clothing collection, but i can imagine if i did - it would be based on my love for the culinary arts. pastries and desserts are marvelous forms of art, and who says fashion cant follow your tastebuds? well, that is exactly what andy & debb did when they modeled many of their blouses in their s/summer 2009 collection after the swirls and volume of the iceing on a cupcake. the designers told style.com, “We were baking with our children one day, and we noticed how sculptural cupcake liners are. So we used them, and cupcakes, as the basis for the collection.” this collection pushes the bar for feminine again. the clean lines and romantic cuts of fabric really give you the feel of a slightly more modern great gatsby movie.

They did a great job with this. Using cupcake liners as inspiration could have become so grandma so fast, but luckily, it didn't!
