"primitive and archaic, yet sophisticated"

miuccia prada created a line of clean and simple designs for rtw s/s. no more lace. the parachuted fabric added volume to the absolute pieces. and in place of last year's flower print, this hooks some fishes and reptiles. the cuts of the pieces were very "archaic" and "primitive" as prada described. there was a definite "i just got in a fight with a caveman and kicked his ass" look to some of the dresses.
the shoes were all about big bigger biggest. i love wwd's description of the shoes:
"Folks, more sculptural, higher, chunkier, clunkier, strappier, bondage-ier — we get it. But maybe it’s time to cry uncle and downgrade to shoes that function as shoes, even on the runway. First, that oh-God-I’m-a-mom-don’t-let-the-poor-girl-fall anxiety becomes a huge distraction for the audience. Second, a fashion show is still supposed to have some commercial tie-in, however abstract or theoretical. What does it say if the girls paid to walk in the shoes can’t walk in the shoes?"
i agree. but i still am still loving the sky high look - as long as they are stable.
